Datastream and the ratio Tobin's Q

Posted in Datastream

Tobin's q is a ratio that was developed by James Tobin as the ratio between the market value and replacement value of the same physical asset. The ratio Tobin's q is calculated by dividing the market value of a company by the replacement value of the book equity:
(Equity Market Value + Liabilities Book Value) / (Equity Book Value + Liabilities Book Value).

Using Datastream the ratio can be downloaded for companies using a calculation which was recently posted by Bjorn Witlox at his excellent blog:

DPL#((X(WC08001)+X(WC03351))/(X(WC03501)+X(WC03351)),6)
